Welcome!

Welcome to the Bauer group in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Missouri - St. Louis. Our research interests are in the area of organometallic catalysis.

Gatewayarch

St. Louis is known as the "Gateway to the West", as shown by the Gateway Arch (see picture). The Gateway Arch is the tallest man-made monument of the United States (630 ft, 192 m) and a symbol for it's pioneering spirit. In the same way, the University of Missouri St. Louis and the Chemistry Department is dedicated to pioneering research and teaching.

- Eike Bauer, Professor of Chemistry.

The Chemistry Department has a strong research emphasis but is of medium size, allowing substantial interaction between research advisors and Ph.D. students. There is an international make-up to the faculty and postdoctoral fellows, and there are graduate students presently in the department from the United States, Europe, Africa, and Asia. The department is very well equipped with modern instrumentation and computing resources.
